How 'Isle of Dogs' Brings Canines to Life
Director Wes Anderson

Anatomy of a Scene is a New York Times video series where directors talk viewers through a single scene of their movies, explaining how the scene was constructed,  the motives and sometimes even mistakes made from behind the camera.

2

Practice

Fill out the pages of the Anatomy of a Scene booklet for a scene from a movie that you know.

Your analysis should cover characters, setting, frame, camera work, mood and soundtrack and any other details you think are relevant to understanding how the director constructed the scene.

3

Create

Using the analysis you've collected in your Anatomy of a Scene booklet, write a narration that you can read as a voice-over for the scene.

Once you have clearly stated your analysis in writing, practice reading it. When you are ready, use Audacity to record your narration.
